ack I've fallen behind - this time of year is always a little crazy i think?

Quick(ish) recap -
Wore my sassy "book" skirt and "Urban Decay'd" for date night down in Deep Ellum. Tried Filament  (good feel but food was eh) and walked over to armoury d.e for an after drink  (good drink and good feel bar).

DE has changed even more since last time ....(again) I'm glad it's coming back...I just hope it keeps its grungy-ness of old. I hate how things are turning so cookie cutter.
On the subject of cookie cutter - what's wrong with Boaty McBoatface for a ships name? i love it and i just snort-laughed when i read about it.  Maybe if we had a little humor to serious subject matters more people would be interested? 

I did not see the (should've been last) last Divergent film this weekend - i will eventually i guess? - maybe... (ugh).... I still haven't even seen the last hunger games movie and I had more interest in that one. Tried to test out the "Rover" app to take care of BB this weekend and the gal just cancelled, then the second guy said he couldn't  - even though his calendar says he's available?....ugh...kinda shady no? And I thought it was such a great solution....oh well....Guess Jamie's parents got themselves a black brat dog this weekend cause I'm done experimenting for now and we're going back to NOLA. 

As far as books go (and before I forget to keep track)  - read The Kind Worth Killing - it was twisty but a bit predictable if you ask me. It did keep me reading.

AnnnNnnnd I came into a bunch of books! -  old and new! -
Most everyone I know can't understand my happiness at this...but it was a bit like this for me. 

so picking at random I also started reading A Short History of Nearly Everything - interesting but very nerdy about the "Big Bang" ...annnnnd I lost interest when he got to the supernova's.
Not saying I'm not gonna finish....it's just gonna be a slow goer for me. It's super cool and he's good at putting it in layman's terms - had no idea Pluto was that small. Even more cool to see the images from the New Horizon mission he mentions that just posted  a couple of days ago.

Also picked up reading In 50 Years We'll All Be Chicks - and while it started out funny (and I think pretty spot on when he's talking about modern men) by the 3rd chapter I was weary of the ranting. If I finish it it will be a long time from now cause I'll only go back in between books in short doses.

Lastly, I wasn't really a Belieber until I heard the Latin remix of this song.
SEE! life lesson - you don't need to pontificate, lie, and push and yell....just remix a little (and merge culture a little) to bring people over to your side.

the most nerdy thing I've ever done

I made a "my favorite authors / fangirl" tshirt on zazzle.  

I'm well aware that this is probably the nerdiest thing I've ever done (Jamie told me so too)  

Don't care - I'm totally wearing it at the RT convention here next month!

I also bought my Derby hat...it's pretty - just not as fun. 

Jamie and I are bickering about the decoration/spending for this party. He bought a rose wreath specifically for this event because "it's 'Run for the Roses' Brenda!" 

Seriously?! he's never really cared about any decorations EVER but all of the sudden we're having a Kentucky Derby party and he's turned into "Mr. Interior Designer". ugh!

I'm in a Weary Boys mood - man I miss this band.... we saw them at Adairs and it was seriously one of the best musical talent abilities I've ever seen. More fiddle, more stand up bass - yes please. 

what is happening

I saw Insurgent. Tried to keep an open mind but I guess it's just a given that I'm a book to movie snob. The acting/actors are good, the movie just lacked depth. It's missing focus on key relationships outside of Four/Tris. Also, with all the shooting going on it's amazing how often they ran and managed to avoid being shot - Movie pet peeve #241 - thank you. 

And so since the next/last book was so disappointing I highly doubt I'll make the effort to watch it in the theater when that one comes out.

Miranda Neville's - Importance of Being Wicked lost me at the end, the gal got way too whiny.
Jennifer Probst - The Marriage Bargain - quick read that I feel I've read many times before. Still, I finished it.
Cora Carmack's - All Broke Down - i liked that i didn't like the guy at first and she brought me around. The gal's story I think was a little underdeveloped

Just started a new book called the Rosie Project - it read so stilted at first but once I caught that the lead is somewhat Sheldon Cooper-like, this book is pretty freakin good/funny so far!

I'm dreading this work week....so i'm off to take advantage of what's left of the weekend.

no disney princess

I woke up thinking that if I was a disney princess i wouldn't be snow white. 
Those damn birds chirping at 5ish this morning are lucky I didn't have a bb gun.

On that note - and since it's supposed to be international happy day - I'm reading Miranda Neville. I like the sassy and believable relationship building, especially for that era. 

Debating going to see Insurgent...the trailer is skewing too Matrix-y for my taste. Not that I didn't like the Matrix, it's just the book didn't read like that.
So glad it's Friday....

Smoke (Dallas) and Bone

Finished reading Manhunting - it was ok. I like stories where the leads don't really realize they're attracted to each other until well into the story. I've read better with that scenario though...what comes to mind is Enchanted. I loved that whole Medieval series really. I really wish E.Lowell would write about Erik....I'd buy to read his story on release day!

Right now I'm reading Shadowy Horses , I should've read this before reading The Firebird. They tie together - it's not bad but I am able to put it down if that says anything. 

Next up, my sister has been on me to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone....I refused until the series was finished. Waiting for Allegiant made me bonkers (and then reading it and how it ended caused an epic bitchfest on my part).  So anyway , she said it's finished -  I'll give it a go here soon. 

Speaking of Smoke (and Bone)- We ate at Smoke Dallas the first year it opened.
