things no one tells you about getting older #1687 - having a cup of milk and a banana two days in a row for breakfast makes you gain four pounds in two days. Holy moly...i'm not kidding. This is bonkers....

Moving on - I posted last week on two of the dem pages I'm in,
Noting the seeming lack of uniformity/direction from the Dem party and questioning what the Dem leadership are actually doing while the "grassroots" move. -
couldn't help myself!

I knew I was going in with the high chance I was about nettle some people with my forthrightness but I'm getting frustrated and apparently (based on feedback) I wasn't alone.

Surprisingly only a couple were notably irked. After dm'ing a few of the people who posted responses, I got really great feedback actually!
One of which is to tie in to the precinct chair - as they're a direct connection to the Dem party.
I looked into my precinct chair - unsurprisingly I don't have one - mine's one of the farthest away from the county court. It's a 40 minute drive and you have to attend meetings. Still it's important to note.

The other dem page that I posted to - i got a dm this morning saying that the admins weren't going to approve it because it didn't meet their guidelines and they were concerned about the controversy.
I get it, I do...it's just I really think that these things need to be addressed/discussed - this might be one of the many reasons we (they) got here in the first place...right?...or maybe not...what do I know.

We went to the horse races on RR game over the weekend for La's birthday. She sent me an email Friday talking about crazy Left-wing media bias and guns don't kill people and checking on spoons cause they apparently make you fat as a comparison....I wrote back saying "can you describe the spoon thing? Cause all I thought after reading it was “if a person wants to eat themselves to death with a spoon then that’s a personal choice they made about their own life…”. How does that compare with a gun that can be used irresponsibly to kill someone?"

Also watched Amy Schumer's new movie - good message, just kinda missed the mark somewhere and only a couple laughs. Still a fan.

 I didn't try reading anything new this time - wasn't actually home a lot. Just re-reading scenes from favorite books. Trehan Daciano, Kulti. Can't go wrong there.

had a lady yell at me over the phone at work about how "highly offended" she was about the Hubig's pie story and illustrations in Bon Appetit.
So (not having any idea what the story was about and with no interest in engaging in this kind of conversation with a stranger at work) - when she let me get a word in, I told her, "You have a right to your opinion. I'm sorry you're offended. Here's the number to edit in the corporate offices etc.".
That set her off again...ugh...

I got curious though ....especially cause she talked about New Orleans and how "tired of people thinking Southern people are dumb. People from Portland aren't any better than us in the South."

So I looked it up...there's no way she read the story - or maybe she just saw the first illustrations? Cause what it was, was  a change-of-heart story...
Wish the lady would've read it....cause really it just made me want to eat pie...in New Orleans.

I did write the author, telling her I liked the story (and that lady was livid...so I'm sure she was gonna be making big waves...her rage was sure to reach the author)

umm I've already forgotten what we did last weekend -
oh we had dinner with the H's...vented. Nice as always!

Finished MZapata's From Lukov with Love - and lord that gal can just draw things out...it hurts so good. I kept looking to see how much was left to eobook and I almost wanted to stop reading so I could draw it out longer.
And the premise just in time for the olympics...the obsession has begun.
Jamie's going out of town tomorrow - might go see Adam Hood. My mini's been playing him a lot so I think it's a sign I should go.

so i went to another "huddle" over the weekend.
A lot fewer people than before -  but can't say I blame them...
Almost talked myself out of it too, just to sit on the couch a little longer with the husband to do a whole lot of nothing....
We planted sod this weekend - and um yeah... seriously - anyone who says that's fun is lying or crazy. We were beyond exhausted. 
Even more of an appreciation for those that work that field.

Glad I went.  Just for the stress relief alone.
Organization is happening. The year is half done though....not sure it's happening quickly enough? Or if it'll change anything?

So much is going on - not  a whole lot of good -  steadily these last 4 months really...
"this country is fraying around the edges" has got to be true....
We continue on.

Dating You Hating You - Christina Lauren - yeah just eh. Not even close to the Hating Game chemistry.
Dear Aaron - Mariana Zapata's surprise one - the surprise was fun. The book...it's just, 80% of it was back and forth over email/text dialogue. Don't think that worked for me. The immaturity at times was a little "eh" for me - but maybe that's just me being a stick in the mud.  The lead had good points but nothing that made me love her like the Kulti girl, i wish she went a little more depth on the guy...

we've had quite the adventure.
11pm friday night before we're to leave on our vacation Jamie got stomach sick.
1pm Saturday I convinced him to go to the doc in the box. He got a shot and 4 different kinds of medication.
We woke up at 3am Sunday to catch our flight.
Land in Anguilla - Jamie can't eat anything for 48 hours. (a noted "best" for people who love to eat and he can't.) But we made it.

Disconnected from news/social media and just beached for a few days. Lovely...lovely...lovely as before.
(Note for next (next) time - definitely ferry is the way to go from SXM. $20taxi + $20 + $5 departure pp.
Back $20+$25 departure.)

Jamie's still not feeling great, we change our flights to come back a couple days early and now I'm feeling sick. I was so nauseous getting on the plane I physically carried a "motion discomfort" bag the whole day til we got home. Really close calls at some points. Not the greatest feeling to feel trapped on a plane and carrying a "bag".
Got home and now allergies got me.
Oh and it took us half a day to get in an argument about politics. Seriously, my sister texted me that the city of FB down the road started pulling people over randomly to check their legal status!
So now I'm glad I have this day off to recover.  I'm sitting here eyes swollen and snotty...
but hey...I got to check out for a few days of amazing-ness.

On Second Thought - yes of course I liked it. It just I missed the connection with the guys more than usual.
Seven Minutes in Heaven - she just seemed much more mature than him. Good story, as always, just not in my top favorite couple of hers. 
Nobody's Baby but Mine & Heaven, Texas - yeah...she treads that line of inappropriate that makes me uncomfortable.
Wait For It - Mariana Zapata -  with this one I've read all her books so far. She's up there as a favorite now. I'm def all about her older guys. 
Rhythm, Chord Malychin - MZ  - immaturish, lower on my list of hers. Still good.
Under Locke - MZ -  so I just found out what MC meant last week. Not my genre but yeah this was a winner overall (and sexy times whew...)

Wanna know how you know you're getting older? - we planned a day drinking day on Monday with the Ws - get to the house after a two stop hop (to keep going) -  and everybody falls asleep watching the Food Network instead - to eventually wake up to watch the Cowboy game.

smh. oh well.

Besides that my time off week is goin fast.

Finished:
Time Keeper - Mitch Albom - not as good as the others I've read of his -  but quick read, thoughtful. I forget how good he is with the one-liners.
The Last 5th Wave book - nope. didn't get me. oh well
Lingus - Mariana Zapata - I finished it but I mostly didn't like it. Funny at times but it's like stupid MTV stuff... the immaturity got old fast
#1 Chicago Stars - I liked them, I like how she turned her beauty around to work for her.
#5 Chicago Stars - this one bothered the shit out of me. She basically sexually assaults him and they live HEA? I finished the book and I think I would've liked her if that whole scene never happened. Just couldn't get passed it. Not ok.

I feel like I'm trying to get sick? maybe I just need to move around...
Think we're fixin to head to Fort Worth for an adventure? Jamie's goin a little stir crazy.

We're heading to the Galleria in a bit to meet with Jamie's family - THE FREAKING GALLERIA - to watch the ice skaters - 'cause Jamie's mom wants to have all her family together at one time.

Finished - The Wall of Winnipeg and Me - Mariana Zapata - not as good as Kulti, still a little long winded again in some parts but I definitely like her depth of characters.

Again I "sampled" a slew of books and again I'm striking out - so many I'm not even taking the time to go back and write them down for here to remind me. Hopefully I'll just never pick them up again. bleh.

Yay Christmas time...
no but really...I think his mom will be really happy. So that's good.

I stayed up til 1:30 this morning reading "Kulti" by Mariana Zapata and (though I slightly feel like doodoo) I don't regret it.
So relate-able for any girl who's ever played sports...and then there's Kulti *sigh* I found another winner. Maybe just a little too much "Big Girl Socks"and immature-ish at times but eh - can't say I wouldn't turn 13 in some of those same scenarios either - it got me and I'm happy.

sidenote - Jamie has an interview prep thing today with an old co-worker of his trying to get him in the door,  fingers crossed - we had a bad turn on our "roller coaster" a few days ago. It took everything I had to bite my tongue. He doesn't need my bitchy sniping, I get it... but lord it's hard sometimes...
