ack! shit! I've been constantly distracted
books - I read Ward's The Thief - could totally see why that gal would skip chapters and go back to read one story line through.
Voyeur and the Varlet - she describes what a varlet is. I liked it....but Penny Reid is pretty much spot-on my style
Too Wilde to Wed - eloisa james - yeah i liked this! misunderstandings/miscommunications and some shenanigans, no evil person/antagonist plot. a winner

Politics - yep immigration flare up that's really been building for years.
The question of "but were you protesting in 2014/2015?" repeated.
So I repeated:
nope…besides voting and the occasional email to representatives, I wasn’t protesting anything in 2014/2015….I was blithely living in my bubble of privilege. And not gonna lie…I miss my bubble.

I have always had an interest in immigration though – I was an immigrant myself when we lived in Canada for 5 years.
Grew up in El Paso otherwise and worked for city hall in El Paso as an intern. My step-father was an immigration/border patrol agent. Immigration law is complex, Even he had a hard time explaining. There were/are a lot of gray areas.
Holistically (as I understood it) intact families were rarely separated, there are lots of cases where children arrived by themselves. In that case it gets even more complicated.

Notice I say “as I understood it” cause I’m fully aware my basic curiosity doesn’t make me a specialist or privy to what “really” was going on.

Bottom line – I’m tired of the apathy… plus in the cases of asylum attempts - I can’t possibly fault someone trying to save themselves/their children (especially when the U.S. had a hand in the chaos that’s happening in their countries)…Just can’t. So heckfire yeah I’m protesting now.

Charley Crockett tomorrow for some music therapy.
My Sheldonita has been in a Jack Ingram mood though...so I'll go with it:
Looking at maybe Mexico city for Thanksgiving? (why not...)...

saved by love

So I went to San Antonio to hang out with my dad, he seems happy and settled.
It's so interesting to recall how he used to be with his past wives/girlfriends....he always had this kinda caged (?) energy.
She's not at all who I would've thought he would've picked for his (maybe?) last wife.
But yes...he's calmed. That's good.

Then back up to New Braunfels for Wurstfest.
Hottest one ever.
I wore my dirndl but just went with flip flops...putting high-socks on in 80 degrees was a no-go for me.
First time ever we saw a fight between a man and a woman happening there....
It coulda been also though that I wasn't shitfaced and spinning/dancing so much this year so I noticed a lot more?

...oy...maybe I'll forget last year's headache and go hard next year....cause not gonna lie...it is fun in the moment :)

But yes...Wurstfest most always makes people happy...It's kinda hard to be angry with German tuba polka music playing in the background ...seriously...
the lady kept grabbing onto the man and he'd shake her off in a rage, yelling.
Jamie kinda went in to stop it...they just moved away and I guess were escorted out.  smh...

Then we left for Dallas to find that the biggest mass murder in Texas had happened in a church behind us.
Again, I grew up with a gun(s) in the house. The majority of the people I know owns a gun. The "come and take it" posts aren't necessary ....I'm not hearing people around here saying to take your guns away *insert eye roll here*. I think we should agree though that there is a proven common denominator for men who do this kind of atrocity. For those that have a history of domestic violence/abuse of any kind, they AT THE VERY LEAST  should not be allowed to buy/own a gun - especially an assault rifle. They don't know how to control themselves. And ladies please, you're the front line, say something.

And moving along, it's been year since the election - "sweeping victory for dems" is making the rounds on feeds today.
Cynical me keeps wanting to warn people to stop with the "rah rah". They shouldn't care that their party has won/lost some victories....they should care to keep an eagle eye their reps so the same fuckup-ery doesn't continue to happen.
In other words...I really hope people (continue) to give a shit to how they're being represented and how/what laws are being made/passed on their behalf. ...

oy ok...off my pontification! bleh...

Finished:
Get Lucky (Lucky in Love Book 1) - Lila Monroe - find love in Las Vegas story. eh. Emma Chase's was better.
Wilde in Love: The Wildes of Lindow Castle - Eloisa James - she's still a favorite...but I hate to say it, this one was kinda boring. I liked them as characters but I've already kinda forgotten about them - if that says anything - also  I'm not a fan of inserting the kind of villian she did. And oddly, I recall thinking  that the detailed description of the clothing/fashion took precedence over the story...I like that kinda detail though soo and I know EJ posts stuff about clothing all the time so that 's her thing...maybe I'm just nitpicking.
Maid for the Billionaire (Book 1) (Legacy Collection) - Ruth Cardello - eh....pure fantasy

My Sheldon-ita played some Chris Knight this morning....good call...

that Bell(e) can't be unrung

it's been a whirlwind!
jamie and i went bar hopping for halloween - we won the costumes if I should say so myself. Everyone either didn't dress up or they had lame costumes on. Granted we started at 4:30 and ended at 10 but whatever.

I made the newspaper opinion column, volunteered for B O'R's town hall next week, made reservations for Santa Fe next month, my car has stuff wrong with it, planning thanksgiving....and work has been beyond crazy. I really don't know how publishing title's are going to make it....it's chaos.

Can't believe the astro's won a world series before us....Altuve ugh.
We're heading to Wurstfest tomorrow (well I'm going to San Antonio cause I havent' seen my dad in so long....i'm a terrible daughter *smh*) and then Wurstfest on Saturday....think i will wear my dirndl this year. Hottest year yet. Beer...gross.

Finished:
Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan - She totally gets how to describe books and reading. Read a little scattered at first but pulled together and ended up really liking it.  Definitely makes someone want to go to Scotland.

More than halfway with EJames' new one....um hmm...i'll wait to finish.
Still listening to the new Turnpike Troubadours album - so so good.

believe in you

thought I was gonna have a battle on my hands with AA and VRBO to get refunded for the weekend's hurricane/Destin cancellation. Surprisingly (and gratefully) not so!

So I volunteered to help make care packages for Houston - had to be there by 8am (half asleep) - there were only like 12 people there.
The owner described the trip to Houston last Thursday. "We pulled up to the church seeing hundreds in a line that wasn't moving. Knocked on the door, there was a small group in a prayer circle. Apparently they had nothing left to offer the people, they had submitted a request for assistance and had to resort to praying as a last resort. Fed 700 people that day. This is why we're here..."

A family was there to volunteer - the mother had a moment and started crying, someone asked her if she was ok, she said "I'm just looking at my boys and how proud I am of them right now..." . It was sweet.

It's definitely manual labor - was sore yesterday - I'm glad I went. I'd go again.

Also took BB to the dog pool day - oy that dog *smh*....
she was happy the first 5 minutes,
nervous at 10 minutes with so many dogs showing up
and made a run for the exit at 15 minutes.
They had to catch her. She got in trouble.

We lasted 18 minutes at the pool.

Finished:
I Knew You Were Trouble - Lauren Layne - actually liked this one, bad timing, hate/love. not bad.
Challenge - Amy Daws - almost quit after the first few chapters but hung on and she developed the characters better as it went.
Re-read Eloisa James novella - Winning the Wallflower - again good.
The Girls: Emma Cline - only a few pages in... 70'sish setting, already losing interest. She's fascinated by "bad" girls....not doing it for me.

Jamie got home late after going to the Ranger game with his friend....he sang (awfully) Don Williams to me before he could let us go to sleep. And so we Don Williams...cause it's just good music.

ultima noche mad-house cruella

a man pulled up next to me this morning on the way to work and told me he likes my mini and my hair and my smile. Not like creeper-like though... i didn't think so anyway?
I think he actually just meant it as a simple compliment...
So I said "thank you!"

Interesting is that I've stopped coloring my hair - ...just got tired of coloring it.
I didn't think it was looking so good right now with an inch growth of canas on the front half of my hair  against the pitch black on the back
Cruella de Vil here I come....

But hey, that was super nice! I'll take it.
and when i want to add in purple or pink or whatever it'll go in much better with white hair! yay.
Hopefully it'll look okay...? :o/ Jamie seems to think so...

other news - cancelling my trip to Florida this weekend - bummer - but no way am i playing roulette with this craziness. scary. And so worried about Anguilla.
hope I don't run into issues with vrbo and aa.
I am going a little stir crazy - i need to get out of this city...

Just volunteered to help make care packages for Houston on Saturday...figured the chaos to help is winding down so why not right...

moving on...I turned into a hermitting phase and had a reading frenzy this last weekend  - (besides that boost coffee gave me on Saturday morning when I brought all my Fall stuff down from the attic by myself - whew - who needs uppers when you got caffeine right!) I actually think I read too much, and might've hit my reading limit....my poor eyes were dry dry dry the last couple days.

Finished:
Ten Days in a Mad-House Nellie Bly - super interesting non-fiction read

Blame It on the Duke: The Disgraceful Dukes - Lenora Bell - he asks her cause he has to, she just wants to travel,  - slow going, finished.

The Pleasures of Passion (The Sinful Suitors Book 4) Sabrina Jeffries - young, asks her to run away she says no, he comes back they're grown, she's widowed w/ child and the spark never went away. not bad, finished.

Date a Douchebag - Sara Ney - #1 - was super warry to start this one d-bags are the worst (even saying it in my head sounds awful) library scene, he's dared, she's underestimated, he's clueless, it works out. Actually (surprisingly) really liked it.
Date a Douchebag - Sara Ney - #2 - another library girl, this guy was so unlikable almost passed redemption. She brought him back but liked #1 better.

The Ugly Duchess (Fairy Tales Book 4) Eloisa James - my kindle says it's a re-read, I just couldnt' remember reading it and I actually really liked it. grew up together, forced-ish marriage, he betrays her, goes away, they grow up, he comes back.

The Duke Is Mine (Fairy Tales Book 3) - Eloisa James - i liked it, the opposites attracted....until they have to go away. skim read to the end.

And I thought of my ita this morning on the way to work - a beautiful day, windows down and jamming an old school spanish song like she used to listen to. And since apparently my president doesn't very much like my kind, i enjoyed it even more....

laughed out and over my head

so yes Saturday was a day of gals - Michaels, arts/crafts, lunch...and lots and lots of talking as  - girls are wont to do

Then I was home by 4 and did my first ever Netflix binge-watch.
A British show called Chewing Gum....
some of the British vernacular went over my head,
I ultimately had to put closed captions on cause I couldn't understand what the f they were saying

but lord....I laughed and laughed.
Not gonna lie - a couple times so hard I about peed my pants.
I'm twitter stalking the gal now....:0)

Attempted to go to the DMV and was (naturally) let down on expectations and the "online reservation" process - ugh...

March for Science Saturday - trying to think of a sign - I'll never be as clever as nerdy science-y people. grr.
Did post to "the group" that Rick Perry will be speaking as "Head of Energy" at the Earth Day Fair park downtown on Friday though - people are vacillating between the vomit emoji and high amusement/sarcasm.

Also (of course) read:
Larissa Ione - Z (just have to kinda think that she'll always think she comes in second...right?) and Razr (he didn't do all that much for me....this was one of those times I loved the gal and her world much more. Hope she continues there)
Victoria Aveyard - Red Queen - good potential YA but not gonna lie, I skimmed through some parts. It's a mish mash of a lot of dystopian others. And not always the best parts.  I'll continue if it comes around. No die hard here.
Finished #3 and #4 of the EJamesEssex sisters - Not my favorite series of hers. I was entertained. thank you.

Annnd I read an article today that said live music is dying - case it point Wormy Dog OKC is closing this month - I hope it's just a lull - I love live music. It's a huge stress relief.

To that end (poor choice of words) gonna go with a little old school Crystal Gayle

we vented husbands and politics. it was quite cathartic.

Meant to go to the Mega March but stayed and talked with my oldest best gal pal instead.
Every 6 months or so we try to catch up on everything in a few hours.
I swear our attention span and staying on topic is that of a squirrel.
or chipmunk?
Yes we vented husbands and politics, jobs etc.  it was cathartic. I highly recommend.
We also saw "Get Out" - she dragged me - i'm not a fan of paying for things that scare me. I had a Stephen King/Dean Koontz phase a long time ago. I'm good.
mostly suspenseful/macabre -   eye opening in a way but generalizing in others. Again, I'm disheartened, 'cause all I could think is "there goes another one a girl ruined" I'll stick to my romance and HEA. thank you.

Back to the march, most everyone I know look at me funny and/or think that marching is pointless or isn't important -
I think it has a point and it is important - plus it's quintessential American. Someone said this:
They seem very similar to pep rallies the day of a football game. The pep rallies don't actually play the game and they certainly don't win the game. But they do:
a) generate "team spirit", and
b) show the team all the people who support them, which will in turn c) increase likely game attendance later that day, which then
d) buoys the spirits of the players who are actually playing the game, making it more likely that they will win.
I don't see why I wouldn't attend more through my lifetime.

we saw Charley Crockett in Bedford.
it's like a whole other land Bedford? kinda fun.
As far as he went, I liked him - a little odd and awesome blend of old country and new orleans sound. Official fan. Plus you have to wonder how life-shaping it is to know you've come from a revered historical figure...

We went to see Jason Boland @ L&W and it was freaking packed - I've lost my interest for seeing more well-known bands at that venue. He still sounded good.

Finished #2 (good - as always - until the "you don't really love me" part. Ugh. he said it, he meant it. move on!)  and half through #3 of Essex EJames.
Also side re-reading LIone's Hades.
Tried reading "The Nest" - lost interest.

Thursday, April 6, 2017

just gonna pay my tab, roll on home.

I'm seeing the term "Latinx" popping up - I get the inclusivity thing but I likely won't use it for personal reference - I'm fine with Latina. American, Texan, I'm fine saying that I'm from Mexican descent. Shit I'm even proud part-Canadian. I am all of those.
Also, I think with labeling yourself too much you start losing self (and potential of a better self). Whateva.

Annnnnd,  if I understand correctly, in forcing the supreme court nominee through - the US Senate majority just weakened the Senate holistically to try to look strong?

On the other side - I've started getting emails addressing me as a "fellow Dem" - and though currently I affiliate more with them then ever before - it bothers me. I'm not a fan of the label.

Still (in my current phase of roller coaster) - I'm just watching.
the tables turn. again no compromise...and we go further down the rabbit hole.

Going to Roughriders opening day tonight.

Finished Eloisa James' - #1 Essex sister book - I totally didn't realize that there was a whole EJames series I missed!.....and I call myself a fan!!! - This one read much more Jane Austen-ish.  I always like the brooders. She (both) does them so well.

And we Randy Rogers

but hey...I got to check out. And I'm tan.

we've had quite the adventure.
11pm friday night before we're to leave on our vacation Jamie got stomach sick.
1pm Saturday I convinced him to go to the doc in the box. He got a shot and 4 different kinds of medication.
We woke up at 3am Sunday to catch our flight.
Land in Anguilla - Jamie can't eat anything for 48 hours. (a noted "best" for people who love to eat and he can't.) But we made it.

Disconnected from news/social media and just beached for a few days. Lovely...lovely...lovely as before.
(Note for next (next) time - definitely ferry is the way to go from SXM. $20taxi + $20 + $5 departure pp.
Back $20+$25 departure.)

Jamie's still not feeling great, we change our flights to come back a couple days early and now I'm feeling sick. I was so nauseous getting on the plane I physically carried a "motion discomfort" bag the whole day til we got home. Really close calls at some points. Not the greatest feeling to feel trapped on a plane and carrying a "bag".
Got home and now allergies got me.
Oh and it took us half a day to get in an argument about politics. Seriously, my sister texted me that the city of FB down the road started pulling people over randomly to check their legal status!
So now I'm glad I have this day off to recover.  I'm sitting here eyes swollen and snotty...
but hey...I got to check out for a few days of amazing-ness.
And I'm tan!

And I read:
On Second Thought - yes of course I liked it. It just I missed the connection with the guys more than usual.
Seven Minutes in Heaven - she just seemed much more mature than him. Good story, as always, just not in my top favorite couple of hers.
Nobody's Baby but Mine & Heaven, Texas - yeah...she treads that line of inappropriate that makes me uncomfortable.
Wait For It - Mariana Zapata -  with this one I've read all her books so far. She's up there as a favorite now. I'm def all about her older guys.
Rhythm, Chord Malychin - MZ  - immaturish, lower on my list of hers. Still good.
Under Locke - MZ -  so I just found out what MC meant last week. Not my genre but yeah this was a winner overall (and sexy times whew...)

Back on the wagon....

Arrival, Deadpool, Pride/Prejudice/Zombies

I took (a much needed) Friday off and since I had the house to myself -watched movies Jamie'd never watch:
DeadPool and Pride and Predjudice and Zombies. Also watched the new one in theater, Arrival, with my sister. All not bad,  in their own ways.

Then carpooled with the M's down to Wurstfest - saw my dad for lunch on the way and then got a little (a lot) tipsy.
yep this was me

what can I say, we were at a German festival with LOTSA people to talk to.
Jamie said I was too much to handle - This made me happy :0)
My head hurt yesterday. Moving on....

Re-read Eloisa James Villier's, the son's and Vander's stories.  I feel I deserved it.
 As the term goes - I "self-cared".

And so....I'm surrounded by a lot of people here that can't seem to understand why people are so worried...

I'm also not getting why the people who hate hate are saying and doing hateful things? Lead by example - don't scream and rage and cry - it gets no one anywhere. And anybody that has to deal with men, know that doing all that just shuts them down. I mean shit, it shuts me down too, not gonna lie...

Like... I hope this million women's march in January does something different. Use technology - no signs and chants - oooh I know! maybe designate songs everyone knows....imagine "a million" people connected singing the same songs at the same time in protest. A Karaoke march! (HA!)

Seriously though...I guess when the mood strikes we'll find something we can talk about around here (or not) and just carry on. That's the best I can think of.

Got to finish organizing Thanksgiving...and I've got work. Yes back to work.

Tuesday, February 9, 2016

reckless and I'm doin alright!

oy -  all the superbowl gaga and beyonce and famous people adoration (or loathing) on social media...

I mean I appreciate talent and entertainment (or don't) but not quite sure I understand the overabundance? especially the hateful things people say...it can't possibly make people feel better to spew nastiness like that?

Really I kinda want to offer any famous person our extra bedroom,
we can go sit at a bar, read together or marathon watch golden girls, their choice - cause really it must be wearing and mentally exhausting to be constantly surrounded by that extreme energy.
Plus my dog loves to make new friends and give kisses.

speaking of friends! - lord knows I've got NOLA love but nope...no fat tuesday celebration- we're going wine and tapas tonight.
we've hit the point of avoiding the amateurs and massively marketed holidays altogether really.
Especially valentine's day for me and jamie....(mostly me) ugh vomit the unrealistic expectations on this "assigned day". Women who terrify their men on this day should be ashamed of themselves and must MUST stop reading Cosmo articles titled "sex moves - awaken your force, light his saber" thinking that will make everything better....ugh.....

and so book-wise:
My American Dutchess - good! kinda fluffy-but-i-don't-care quick read. wonder how she's gonna bring the brother around?
Wicked, Sexy Liar - good, read it through....I think I figured out what was bothering me about this one.... I think it's his age? Not to sound like a hypocrite, being that I met Jamie when I was 22 -  but, 24, (especially for his character) is too young to settle them that way.
I've seen it too many times where people rush into things (or are pressured into settling) and it always ends wrong.

ooo it's 5:14. Almost time to go.....It's a reckless day today!:
I got a phone call today
from a girl who walked away
But I hung it up before I heard what it was she had to say
Hey say may
Well I drank all day
Damnit I told her
I'm doin' alright

my rt15 recap & stragglers

Wow these last few days!!

Thursday
Went to the RT convention
  • Pictionary with a whole buncha authors I've never heard of. Wanna know why? Cause it was an inspy authors! Christian, and Amish and the like. HA! Still...I'm not going to knock it. A good story's a good story. I'll give the books a go...why not!
  • Next was a group of panelists at the other end of the spectrum - they called it the "Art of Funny Smut" Christina Lauren, Clayton, Chase and Probst. Pretty sure I've read all of them. All were really funny. I like their books and like them more now seeing who wrote them. Apparently event coordinators underestimated their draw cause there were way too many people in the small room and it was hot (not in a good way)!
  • YA Fantasy - Cremer, Lu, Aguirre, Pierce, Westerfeld- I've read Lu's Legend and Westerfelds Uglies. It does make it better if you've read what they're talking about. I'm certainly more interested in Andrea Cremer just by hearing what she has to say though. It's on the list.
  • Paranormal - JClare, KCole, CHarris, DJones and GShowalter - This was the one I was most excited about as Kresley is my favorite. This was a great panel. I tried reading Harris's Sookie books but lost interest. I might try her again just cause she was hilarious. And good to know that Kresley never responds to any fan mail. She's very busy. I think she maybe could've said it a little differently? cause I think she might've offended some? I get it though.
  • Ended with Eloisa James, Sylvia Day and DJones - I love EJames books and learned interesting tidbits, both SDay and DJones were interesting...it's just by this time I think everyone was just straight up tired.
I think I'd go for one day (maybe two?) again. It's worth going. I just don't see myself going for a week! I was beat by the end of just that day.

Friday
I had a shit day at work so was totally in a drinking mood. We uber'd to see Jason Boland. He was awesome as always (his hair's gone gray? how'd that happen?)  but it turns out there's no uber to pick us up where we are when he's done!
Jamie finds a couple who's fine with us sharing their cab. It turns out they're from Arkansas and like to talk just as much as we do so we essentially kidnap them to our house. Next thing we know it's 3:30 in the morning and we have basic strangers staying with us in our guest room.

Saturday
We take our new friends to breakfast and  back to their hotel with the promise to visit them when we head their way.

I really thought I'd try to make it to the RT Fan day, but this was me all day yesterday instead:

So yep I've run the gamut of new memories/experiences these last couple of days - either way I'd say I've totally lived - it was quite grand.

i'm out now though...chores and stuff.

the most nerdy thing I've ever done

I made a "my favorite authors / fangirl" tshirt on zazzle.
I'm well aware that this is probably the nerdiest thing I've ever done (Jamie told me so too)

Don't care - I'm totally wearing it at the RT convention here next month!
Everyone will be jealous...(or not) ;o)

I also bought my Derby hat...it's pretty - just not as fun.
Jamie and I are bickering about the decoration/spending for this party. He bought a rose wreath specifically for this event because "it's 'Run for the Roses' Brenda!"
Seriously?! he's never really cared about any decorations EVER but all of the sudden we're having a Kentucky Derby party and he's turned into "Mr. Interior Designer". ugh!

I'm in a Weary Boys mood - man I miss this band.... we saw them at Adairs and it was seriously one of the best musical talent abilities I've ever seen. More fiddle, more stand up bass - yes please.

i've lost my stress free

My boss asked me for my "to-do" list.

I'm efficient. I get things done. I do my job. I'm livid at being asked to waste my time ineffectively.
There's not many things I hate more than being asked to do a "to-do" list.

So as protest- I'm taking time to write this post cause this "request" (obviously) pisses me off.

Ugh...there went all my "country" relaxation I got over the weekend.
We headed out to lake fork again with friends. There's a reason why people that live in the country are so nice and stress free. We made a bonfire and looked at the stars most of the night. It was lovely.

I also read Eloisa's Four Nights , I think she's another that just get better as she goes. I love how she writes lines like "I may have made a fool of myself by falling in love but you have no right to ridicule me for it". Her girls stand up for themselves. Means even more being that it's set in that era. I like it.

I think she gets her men right too. Good, bad. They're men. I didn't so much care for Mia's book drafts at the start of chapters though.

Also read another Jessica Clare - Body Games - again fun. Nothing memorable between the characters.

ok...back to work...boo

maybe we're just weird

Impromptu happy hour and nice weather made some in our group this happy last night.

Notice I just took the picture...
I think I'd hurt myself attempting to do this - conditions have to be perfect.

I signed this petition for uber (cause it's a no-brainer)

I've also facebook-liked my local and state representatives (regardless if I voted for them) - just so I can see what they're doing.

I would think it's just a part of getting older that I'm caring more about how "I'm" being represented and where my tax dollars are being spent.

Guess I'm just weird though...cause very few people I know around my age don't care. I'm surprised if they even vote the presidential election.

I bought the new Eloisa James.
Holding off on the new Ward book. I mean I get that the author spent hours/months to tell the story. But $12 is freakin expensive!! I think the hours I take reading it should count for something....
It's a digital book for cryin out loud! You didn't have to cut the tree down and produce it. I'm not even getting the book feel/smell that makes it doubly worth it.
I'm not paying $12!!!

this will make you feel alive

We saw The Rebirth Brass Band of New Orleans last night.

While in New Orleans the bartenders raved on how good this band was. So we made the effort to see what all the fuss was about (on a Thursday night no less!) and I'm dragging ass a little this morning.

- and now apparently I'm a banjo AND a brass band kinda gal!!

That was a SUPER fun time!
Ever want to get a feel for New Orleans? Go see this band. It'll make you feel alive.

Also read Eloisa's Once Upon a Tower. It's up there as one of my favorites of hers. I liked her play on Romeo and Juliet. I always was a bit of a sucker for that story.

It's about to snow here (SNOW! yas we never get snow!!!) and it's Friday.

This is a good day.

Friday, February 13, 2015

raise some hell tonight?

I feel for those poor souls out there  running themselves ragged stressing about valentine's day. *shaking my head*

We're going to do our best to avoid the chaos.
Jamie slobbered on my face this morning and says "there's 49 more shades of grey where that came from" in his mock seducer voice and walks out to work.  ha...such an idiot.

I'll see if I can convince him to go see these Dirty River Boys... they're always a good time:

And so the next two in the Beautiful Bastard series read better as they went, I think Max in Beautiful Stranger just got himself a new fangirl. That part where I found out he was a rugby player was the clincher. I love rugby and rugby players - a million times better than football if you ask me.

I switched over to historical romance Eloisa James The Duke is Mine, not bad, not her best...skimmed through the last bit of the book as the story line faded.

"your selfish disdain for the feelings of others..."

Wasn't expecting much from reading Duchess By Night,  the girl getting away with dressing/acting like a man trope (I just learned what that word means!) is just kinda "eh".

Not my favorite of the series but it was entertaining enough for me to want to read through. That's good enough I guess.

I also watched The Dutchess movie, a true story of the Dutchess of Devonshire, oy... what women had to suffer through.

On a side note, I got Jamie to watch a little of Pride and Prejudice with me. Me narrating of course since he said he didn't "understand what the fuck they are saying".  ha!

He only hung on for a while before passing out, but he did inform me that he liked Darcy better than Wickham (me too Jamie, me too).

I call that progress!!!

Zoom Zoom Zoom!

I'm on a Sunday morning coffee high!

and I've got 18 things i want to say which means I've sat here for the last 2 minutes just staring at the computer doing nothing.

I've just recently started liking coffee.
Weird how your (my? maybe just me) palate changes as you get older.

Had a great weekend so far, went Christmas shopping, ate at our most favorite restaurant - Neighborhood Services, had friends over for an impromptu game night.

Finished reading When Beauty Tamed the Beast - very "House"ish, historical romance which I liked.

I've read several of her books, I like her style, I think I've almost read them all.

Not going to finish them today though...I'm finally going to see Mockingjay #1.

 Later!
