*squawk* am I really gonna do this?

So I've had two dreams now (yes dreams!) about starting a business. I swear it's a result of party planning chaos for this Derby party we're having this weekend...
I think I might actually follow through to see where it leads. I know me. I'm so fickle though so hopefully writing it down on my "diary" will give me further incentive.

And so i saw that #momoftheyear video. Normally I would say that she should've raised him to be smarter than being anywhere near there but teenagers are crazy so I guess I'll just say as long as she cares enough to do something about it when she can then you go lady!

I'm about half through with the second of the Unwind series. I'll say this, I usually don't like so many characters being introduced but this author does it to where I don't mind so much.....

lets get outta here

So we took the Vonlane bus to Houston. It was as though we were sitting in first class on a plane... so nice to just sit back and relax.

Not sure we'll take it to Houston again - even the discounted rate is pricey.

Maybe we'll take it to Austin though when we head down for Wurstfest...especially with how brutal 35 traffic is (and it's still cheaper than flying.)

The Crawfish Festival/Dirty River Boys were good. Made for some good people watching. Uber in/around Spring is ridiculous. We had to walk a ways down till we finally got a taker who didn't cancel on us. I just have to shake my head...

It's nice to see my mom but like Ryan Bingham says "Told the truck driver put the pedal to the metal cause Houston gets me down"

Finished the 2nd in the Pennyroyal Green series. I laughed and cried - the dialogue, the chemistry - definitely a favorite of recent reads. I love when I find a good one.

houston unwind

holy moly! I finished Unwind, the writing was a bit immature at times but the story hooked and one part towards the end was pretty horrifying (in a good story kind of way).

<--------Seriously this was me reading this book at that one part

I'll definitely continue on.

Not sure which to start though - the next in this series or the next in the historical I was reading before this one. oy the dilemma!

We're heading to Houston on Vonlane - a "luxury bus" -  adventure tomorrow.
ugh Houston.
The above gif might apply to Houston too.

(I'm not even saying that because our basketball team is about to lose to them - Though I'd prefer for my home team to win, I think basketball is lame. I've clearly stated - my sports are hockey, baseball and rugby)

I've been to Houston too many times to count and I still don't like any part of it. I've honestly tried!

Gotta make the obligatory "mom visit" though.

We were going to try for the Crawfish festival. We'll see.

pearl snaps and karma

Jamie just bought another one of these pearlsnap shirts.

It's amazing how many times he gets stopped when he wears the green/sasquatch one.

It's those times where I think there might be some truth to the zodiac stuff.
He's a Leo - when he wears that shirt you can just see the proud strut that comes out.

He loves people and all the attention.

Not obnoxious though...more like this:

It's quite amusing.

I'm much more selfish/wary than him.I believe karma though - I've seen it too many times not to.

On that note - this calls for a song from another wonderful band (that sadly is no longer). Lets make it a Macon Greyson day! yay!

I'm still reading the YA - haven't been able to finish it! ack!

Mirror mirror on the bathroom wall tells you what to do
You believe it when they tell you something’s wrong with you
You’ll fix your karma on a three-day weekend
Your horoscope will tell you what went wrong.
You’re blaming random things when there’s no reason

You’ve got a horseshoe on the doorway
You tied a string around your finger
You are avoiding cracks in sidewalks now

A firm belief the supernatural is aligned against you
Astrological conspiracies,it’s really nothing new
You cross your fingers when there’s no one looking
You keep your birthday wishes to yourself.
The gypsy’s crystal ball it must be broken

CHORUS

People tell you that you make your own luck, well they’re wrong
You’re getting nauseous eating fortune cookies all night long
The tarot cards say you’ll find your true love
Late-night psychics, girl they all agree
On your own you’ll never find the right one.

CHORUS 2X
(2ND TO LAST CHORUS SAYS "You tied a string around your little
sticky finger")

yep I'm grumpy but I love food. I win!

Thai food lunch yummmmm - Pad See Ew beef / 4 (with chopsticks, cause ya gotta) is my friend to the end!

I wonder if people are as annoyed with me, cause I love food, as I am annoyed with people who won't try different kinds of food?

Not eating meat is one thing, but it drives me bonkers (and A HUGE character tell) if a person won't try something for the fact that they don't want to try something different. Yeah you might not like it but at least you can say you tried it. Right? Right!! ugh people are annoying me today.

More - saying "they're busy" - I'm thoroughly despising those words.

I'm reading a YA series called Unwind - yet another tragic YA series.
We'll see.

It looks like we're fixin' to maybe get another round of bad weather again too. boooo. My BB girl dog is going to be pacing all night.

Jamie also got earthquake coverage added to our insurance policy. Whoda thunk we'd ever need that around here!? Damn oil&gas drillers. -Not really though cause I know one and he's a super nice guy.-

Soo...hmmm maybe not so happy me or Earth day today.....

Messi ponies & Long

So we went to the horse races Saturday night and it got rained out - i swear it looked like a tornado was coming.

I don't ever want to go through one of those again.
I remember a few years ago looking up and seeing a funnel forming - turning the sky purple and green. Spring in North Texas is crazy.

I've been through a hurricane, surrounded by tornadoes, and felt an earthquake. I think I'm good now God.

A friend of ours knew a horse owner so we got to go to the paddocks/winners circle. So that was pretty cool at least.

Finished reading Julie Anne Long's 1st Pennyroyal series book. There were a few points when conversation got long-winded but overall I liked it! She painted the leads well. I'll start the second book soon.

I saw Messi scored his 400th goal. I'm by no means a soccer afficionado but I like sports and while in Barcelona we stayed an extra day just to see Messi play at Camp Nou v. Valladolid. He was hurt, so we didn't see it...such a bummer cause I think it would've been really cool to see one of the best athletes of all time play.

Still... I don't regret going. Those fans are true fans.
And of course Barcelona was wonderful...WAY better than Madrid.

I lasted through George Strait for last nights country awards. Which is what..10 minutes? oy brutal.

country music standards

I'm in a book lull - I've been derby party planning on pinterest instead. Imagining that my attempts will come out as perfect - when i know damn well it won't. ugh.

And so the ACM awards is having a big blow out here this weekend. It's all over the news.

Curious about Garth and George and maybe Miranda but besides that, it's not my kind of country anymore, or as this new one of Wade and Randy's says,
"It wasn't all that bad, but it ain't me, so I shook my head, and that's all there is to that"

Really I've been in a late 80's/early 90s mood too lately- listening to the Judds and Trisha Yearwood and Patty Loveless.

Whiskey Myers is in town. I have yet to see them - maybe we'll do that tomorrow? More likely we'll just take it easy this weekend though. The next few weekends are jam packed....
time is just speeding by... this is nuts....

lawyers, guns and money

I've taken to checking  Politifact and FactCheck for what's true (or not) every once in a while - cause really I do care -  I just lose attention so quickly with this politics stuff. I can't help it!!

I'm all for hearing an opinion -especially if it's an informed opinion - I just wish people would stop name-calling / talking so much shit. Does it really make them feel better spewing nastiness like that? I mean I just read someone knocked over Hillary Clinton's fathers' tombstone for cryin out loud! Really?!

Maybe this cover song will make me feel better...(I like to turn it up loud and kick out at certain parts like he does too).

It's my sisters birthday today -she's such a mother hen (and drove me crazy sometimes because of it) but she's the only other one who understands how truly crazy our parents are - that alone makes us pretty close. So cheers to big sisters!

Finished Time Out by Jill Shalvis -
My favorite hockey player of all time is Lanny McDonald. Not one to write a romance novel about no, but he just put everything into his game. Awesome athlete.

I know I've read a few others of JShalvis's - something about brothers in the wilderness? I liked those - maybe I'll have a Jill Shalvis marathon. I like her style.

my interview fail (& wifely duties)

So this phone interview I just had was interesting.

He seemed distracted. I'm a little offended that he took my call but didn't really bother to look at my resumé (or have it on hand while we're discussing the position).

Worse - while we're talking I get the feeling he's not paying attention to what I'm saying?

I get there are a lot of distractions. Everyone's "busy" but.... the way I see it...My time is just as important as yours - your job title doesn't mean anything to me when "apathetic" is my first impression of you.

Hmm oh well - know what made me happy? I put horse stickers on our Kentucky Derby invitation envelopes! They're so cute!

<----------- This is Jamie.

He said it looks like we're having a child's birthday party! HAHAHAAAAHA!

It kinda does!

But I've told him -  I think part of why God put me here is to make it a wifely duty to push his buttons every once in a while. He can be such a stick in the mud sometimes!
I think our friends will appreciate my humor. It's a party for cryin out loud...we're not going to Kentucky!

I read Boys of Summer a quick Harlequin read. I pick those up once in a while - cause why not.
Started Game of Thrones, saw Silcon Valley started up again too. There's all kindsa good TV to catch up on!

while we're young

I just watched While We're Young in theater.

I found myself relating to both generations represented. Movies with depth are few and far between nowadays - it's kinda disappointing - so this one was a winner for me.

I'm still reading the Pennyroyal Green series but got distracted with Tina Reber's Love Unscripted. Quite frankly I got a little annoyed with it - the characters had great chemistry, there was just unnecessary drama added to create conflict.

And so I have a phone interview tomorrow. I haven't had a phone interview in years.

We'll see...

the most nerdy thing I've ever done

I made a "my favorite authors / fangirl" tshirt on zazzle.
I'm well aware that this is probably the nerdiest thing I've ever done (Jamie told me so too)

Don't care - I'm totally wearing it at the RT convention here next month!
Everyone will be jealous...(or not) ;o)

I also bought my Derby hat...it's pretty - just not as fun.
Jamie and I are bickering about the decoration/spending for this party. He bought a rose wreath specifically for this event because "it's 'Run for the Roses' Brenda!"
Seriously?! he's never really cared about any decorations EVER but all of the sudden we're having a Kentucky Derby party and he's turned into "Mr. Interior Designer". ugh!

I'm in a Weary Boys mood - man I miss this band.... we saw them at Adairs and it was seriously one of the best musical talent abilities I've ever seen. More fiddle, more stand up bass - yes please.

she doesn't know she's my friend

I called into my Senator's "tele-townhall" meeting the other night.
I had no idea that was an option till i saw it on facebook?!

(Really FB nowadays is more for checking in on my "likes"  than for seeing what my friends/family are doing.)

And so apparently 4000 people dialed in?! It seemed the majority were all over 60. I'm not surprised. I am surprised at how many times the term "illegal aliens" was used. I just find the term so crass. Whatever.... I've already talked on the subject enough, for now.

I just started reading Julie Anne Long's Pennyroyal Green series. We'll see how that goes.

I also saw the newest Outlander - holy heckfire wow!!
I read this (freaking hilarious!) recap on it and she about nailed everything I thought dead on but way funnier.

she doesn't know me but I now consider this Regina Small gal my newest friend just by reading how she recapped the show! ha!

purple hair! don't care (ok I do)

I had a terrible nightmare last night that Jamie cheated on me with one of his ex-girlfriends. I left him and was looking for a place to live.

When I woke up I gave him the cara de huarache/evil eye for daring to do such a thing to me.

I told him "she wasn't even pretty" and he said "you've said that of all my ex-girlfriends"
True story.
I'm way cuter than them (cause I say I am)
I feel better now.

Plus I got my hair colored purple. It looks rad. I love it! Yay for trying new things!

And (I guess along the cheating theme) my car played me some Lily Allen on my way in.

At first when I see you cry,
yeah it makes me smile
At worst I feel bad for a while,
but then I just smile, I go ahead and smile

Right on girl. You go ahead and smile.

i've lost my stress free

My boss asked me for my "to-do" list.

I'm efficient. I get things done. I do my job. I'm livid at being asked to waste my time ineffectively.
There's not many things I hate more than being asked to do a "to-do" list.

So as protest- I'm taking time to write this post cause this "request" (obviously) pisses me off.

Ugh...there went all my "country" relaxation I got over the weekend.
We headed out to lake fork again with friends. There's a reason why people that live in the country are so nice and stress free. We made a bonfire and looked at the stars most of the night. It was lovely.

I also read Eloisa's Four Nights , I think she's another that just get better as she goes. I love how she writes lines like "I may have made a fool of myself by falling in love but you have no right to ridicule me for it". Her girls stand up for themselves. Means even more being that it's set in that era. I like it.

I think she gets her men right too. Good, bad. They're men. I didn't so much care for Mia's book drafts at the start of chapters though.

Also read another Jessica Clare - Body Games - again fun. Nothing memorable between the characters.

ok...back to work...boo

post w/ my senator (& Jamie's new fangirl)

I posted on my senators fb page yesterday and he responded. awesome.

While I respect his opinion/experience - I stand by my thinking that the border patrol/cbp is proficient in doing their job.

I think his time/our resources can currently be allocated elsewhere besides (even more) border security.

And now on to a totally irrelevant topic - I meant to start the Eloisa James book but instead started marathon watching Outlander last night!

Annnnddd.....Jamie's got himself a new fan girl. I guess now I really (for the 3rd time) need to try reading the books. 8 of them though! and not ended yet?!! how long can the story about the same couple go on and still be interesting?

...I'm not complaining on the visual appeal though...cause seriously. yep -  Team Jamie....

maybe we're just weird

Impromptu happy hour and nice weather made some in our group this happy last night.

Notice I just took the picture...
I think I'd hurt myself attempting to do this - conditions have to be perfect.

I signed this petition for uber (cause it's a no-brainer)

I've also facebook-liked my local and state representatives (regardless if I voted for them) - just so I can see what they're doing.

I would think it's just a part of getting older that I'm caring more about how "I'm" being represented and where my tax dollars are being spent.

Guess I'm just weird though...cause very few people I know around my age don't care. I'm surprised if they even vote the presidential election.

I bought the new Eloisa James.
Holding off on the new Ward book. I mean I get that the author spent hours/months to tell the story. But $12 is freakin expensive!! I think the hours I take reading it should count for something....
It's a digital book for cryin out loud! You didn't have to cut the tree down and produce it. I'm not even getting the book feel/smell that makes it doubly worth it.
I'm not paying $12!!!
